Step-by-Step Instructions for Spinach Ricotta Pasta Bake
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Gather all your ingredients and equipment.
- In a medium jar or mixing bowl, combine the tomato passata, extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, and dried Italian mixed herbs.
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta and cook for 1 minute less than the package instructions. Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of the water.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, and drained spinach. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until creamy.
- Fold the cooked ziti pasta into the ricotta mixture. If too thick, add reserved pasta water. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
- Pour sauce over the pasta mixture and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
- Let cool for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
