Step-by-Step Instructions for Spinach Ricotta Pasta Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Gather all your ingredients and equipment.
  2. In a medium jar or mixing bowl, combine the tomato passata, extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, and dried Italian mixed herbs.
  3. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add ziti pasta and cook for 1 minute less than the package instructions. Drain the pasta, reserving a cup of the water.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan, and drained spinach. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until creamy.
  5. Fold the cooked ziti pasta into the ricotta mixture. If too thick, add reserved pasta water. Transfer to a greased baking dish.
  6. Pour sauce over the pasta mixture and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 10 minutes until cheese is golden brown.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes, then serve and enjoy, garnished with fresh basil if desired.
