Step-by-Step Instructions for Authentic Thai Iced Tea
  1. In a medium pot, gather your black tea bags, water, vanilla extract, star anise, whole cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean, and ground turmeric. Place over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  2. Reduce the heat to low and let the tea blend for about 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Carefully strain the tea mixture into a heatproof pitcher using a fine-mesh strainer. Discard the spices and tea bags and let cool.
  4. Prepare your serving glasses with ice cubes filling them halfway.
  5. Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk with evaporated milk until smooth.
  6. Pour the cooled tea over ice in each glass until three-quarters full, then drizzle the milk mixture over the tea.
  7. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired, stir lightly to blend, and serve.
