- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
- Mash the overripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Stir in the melted butter, then add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Sprinkle in the baking soda and a pinch of salt; mix gently until just combined.
- Fold in the all-purpose flour gently until it disappears.
- If using, fold in the nuts and/or chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
- Bake for 50–60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
