Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the overripe bananas in a large mixing bowl until smooth and creamy.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, then add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. Sprinkle in the baking soda and a pinch of salt; mix gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the all-purpose flour gently until it disappears.
  6. If using, fold in the nuts and/or chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top.
  8. Bake for 50–60 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
