  • 1 cup Hot Boiling Water Must be hot for best texture
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances flavor
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 block Firm Tofu Can replace with black beans
  • 1 cup Green Beans Substitute with vegetables like broccoli or bell peppers
  • 1 medium Carrot Use finely chopped vegetables
  • 1/4 cup Cilantro Can swap with parsley
  • 2 tablespoons Toasted Sesame Oil Can switch to vegetable or olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt For seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon White Pepper For seasoning
Cooking Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons Oil for Cooking Neutral oil like sunflower or canola
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds Optional but recommended for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onion For serving

Method
 

Make the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Create a well and pour in hot boiling water, stirring until a shaggy dough forms. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
Prepare Filling
  1. Press tofu to remove moisture, crumble into a bowl. Sauté green beans in a skillet for 1-2 minutes. Mix crumbled tofu with sautéed beans, carrot, cilantro, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper.
Form Buns
  1. Roll rested dough into a log, divide into 10 pieces. Flatten each piece into a wrapper, place filling in the center, pleat edges to seal.
Cook Buns
  1. Heat non-stick pan with oil over medium heat. Add buns, slightly flatten. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden. Flip, add water covering 1/3 of the buns, cover the pan and steam for 3-5 minutes.
Serve Warm
  1. Transfer buns to a plate, garnish with green onions. Serve warm with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
