Preparation Steps
  1. Begin by peeling the onions and slice them into ¼ inch thick rings. Set aside.

  3. Prepare a baking sheet lined with paper towels and a wire rack for draining.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, salt, baking powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
  5. In another container, mix the milk and egg, then combine with the dry mixture until smooth.
  6. Dip each onion ring into the batter and fry in small batches.
  7. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
  8. Drain on a wire rack and season with salt if desired.
