Ingredients
  

For the Marinade
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce or Tamari ensure gluten-free if needed
  • 2 tablespoons Coconut Sugar can substitute with brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder enhances flavor
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Vinegar adds acidity
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Oil imparts nutty taste
  • 1 teaspoon Arrowroot Powder can use cornstarch as a substitute
For the Skewers
  • 14 ounces Extra-Firm Tofu cut into cubes
  • 1 medium Red Onion cut into chunks
For Cooking
  • 1 tablespoon Avocado Oil for greasing the grill
Optional Garnishes
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Seeds for garnish
  • 2 tablespoons Thinly Sliced Green Onion for freshness

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together soy sauce, coconut sugar, garlic powder, rice vinegar, and toasted sesame oil until smooth. Set aside some marinade for glazing later.
  2. Cut the tofu into cubes and marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  3. Combine reserved marinade with arrowroot powder and water in a saucepan, simmer until thickened.
  4. Preheat grill to medium-high heat and thread marinated tofu and red onion onto skewers.
  5. Grease the grill with avocado oil, grill skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally.
  6. Brush skewers with teriyaki glaze before removing from grill, garnish and serve.

Notes
