Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the baking pan.
- Soften the dates by pouring boiling water over them for 10-15 minutes.
- Cream together softened butter and white sugar for 3-5 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until smooth.
- Fold in softened dates along with soaking water until evenly mixed.
- Gradually sift in flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and walnuts; fold gently to combine.
- Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Prepare frosting by boiling butter, brown sugar, and milk for 3 minutes until thickened.
- Spread warm frosting over the cake and return to oven for an additional 10 minutes at 375°F (190°C).
- Let cool in the pan for a short while before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
