Ingredients

For the Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb Extra Lean Ground Beef Substitute with ground turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1 lb Italian Pork Sausage Can be replaced with ground Italian turkey sausage for a healthier twist.
  • 2 large Eggs Consider using flax eggs for a vegan alternative.
  • 1 cup Milk Almond or other non-dairy milk works well for lactose-free needs.
For the Creamy Layer
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened; ricotta cheese can be used for a lighter taste.
  • 1 oz Ranch Dressing Mix Opt for homemade ranch seasoning to minimize preservatives.
  • 1 cup Diced Green Bell Pepper Can be swapped for your preferred bell pepper or omitted for fewer veggies.
For the Topping
  • 3 cups Crushed Doritos Plain tortilla chips can serve if a milder taste is desired.
  • 3 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheddar or a cheese blend can be substituted.

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the extra lean ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, milk, and 2 cups of crushed Doritos. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Press half of the meat mixture into the greased baking dish, forming an even layer.
  4. In a separate bowl, blend together the softened cream cheese, ranch dressing mix, and 1 tablespoon of milk until smooth. Spread over the meat layer.
  5. Layer the diced green bell pepper evenly over the cream cheese mixture, followed by half of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Spread the remaining meat mixture on top and press down firmly.
  7. Bake for 40 minutes until the meat is cooked through and the edges are bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining mozzarella cheese and crushed Doritos on top, and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
  9. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving.
