Step-by-Step Instructions for Best Grilled Chicken Marinade
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the grilled chicken marinade: olive oil, lemon juice, reduced sodium soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, and your chosen spices. This step should take about 5 minutes.
  2. Place your chicken into a large, resealable plastic bag or an airtight container. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring every piece is coated. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably 12 hours.
  3. Allow the marinated chicken to rest at room temperature for approximately 15 to 30 minutes before cooking.
  4. Preheat your grill to 400°F. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill each piece of chicken for about 5 to 7 minutes on one side. Flip once they develop good grill marks and color. Check for an internal temperature of 165°F.
  6. Let the grilled chicken rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Optionally, brush any reserved marinade on the cooked chicken.
