  • 1/2 cup Honey Substitute with maple syrup for a vegan alternative
  • 1 clove Garlic (grated) Fresh or roasted garlic works well
  • 1 tablespoon Hot Sauce Adjust according to your desired level of heat
  • 4 leaves Fresh Sage Leaves Substitute with fresh thyme or omit if not available
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt Adjust to taste before serving

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • three bowls
  • Parchment Paper
  • slotted spoon
  • small saucepan

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare your breading station by placing three bowls on your countertop. In the first bowl, combine all-purpose flour with black pepper. In the second bowl, beat one egg until smooth. In the third bowl, mix Panko breadcrumbs with sesame seeds.
  2. Take your log of goat cheese and roll it into small balls, about one tablespoon each. Place the formed balls on a plate.
  3. Coat each cheese ball in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten egg, and finally roll in the Panko-sesame mixture. Place them on a parchment-lined plate.
  4. Freeze the coated balls for 20 minutes to help them hold their shape during frying.
  5. Warm honey in a small saucepan over low heat, adding grated garlic, hot sauce, and chopped sage leaves. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes.
  6. In a large skillet, heat avocado oil over medium-high heat. Fry the cheese balls in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Transfer the fried cheese balls to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Drizzle with spicy sage honey and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve immediately.
