- Rinse glutinous rice under cold water until water runs clear, then soak in water for 8 to 12 hours. Drain well.
- Place soaked glutinous rice into a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam over boiling water for 30 to 40 minutes until tender.
- Combine roasted black sesame and sugar in a food processor. Pulse until finely ground, then add melted lard and mix until smooth.
- Once cooled, knead the steamed rice until smooth. Divide into small balls weighing 30-40g, keeping them covered.
- Flatten a portion of dough, fill with a teaspoon of sesame filling, fold, and seal tightly. Shape into discs.
- Heat oil in a skillet and fry the cakes in batches for 5 to 7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain on paper towels and serve warm to enjoy as a comforting dessert or snack.
