For the Bread
  • 8 rolls Italian sub rolls or hoagie rolls or ciabatta
For the Butter Mixture
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted can be replaced with olive oil
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder or fresh garlic for more intensity
  • 1 tbsp onion powder or fresh onion
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano or fresh oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil or fresh basil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes omit for milder version
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Fillings
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced salami or turkey or roast beef
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced ham
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced mozzarella cheese or provolone
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
For the Toppings
  • 1/4 cup roasted red peppers, sliced fresh or jarred
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves

Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients and equipment.
  2. Slice each Italian sub roll in half lengthwise, making a hinge. Place them cut side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Melt the butter and mix with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Brush the seasoned butter mixture on the cut sides of each roll.
  5. Layer salami, ham, and pepperoni on the bottom halves of the rolls.
  6. Add mozzarella cheese followed by provolone cheese on top of the meats.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and add roasted red peppers, black olives, banana peppers, and fresh basil.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a minute, slice into portions, and serve warm.
