Step-by-Step Instructions for Quick and Easy Teriyaki Sauce
  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water, stirring until smooth.
  2. In a medium saucepan, pour in 1 cup of water and add ½ cup of soy sauce, ⅓ cup of brown sugar, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of rice vinegar, 1 clove of minced garlic, and ½ tablespoon of minced ginger. Stir well to combine.
  3. Introduce the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan with the other ingredients. Stir vigorously to ensure it’s evenly distributed.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture begins to simmer, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Continue simmering for another 5-7 minutes, stirring constantly until it thickens and turns a rich, dark brown color.
  6. Remove from heat. It’s now ready to drizzle over grilled chicken, tofu, or stir-fried veggies.
