Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line an 8x8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange Ritz crackers in a single layer at the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Combine butter and brown sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring until melted and bring to a gentle boil. Allow to bubble for about 3 minutes.
  4. Immediately pour the bubbling caramel mixture over the arranged Ritz crackers, spreading evenly with a spatula.
  5. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer, then return to the oven for another 2 minutes.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer using a spatula.
  8. If desired, sprinkle festive toppings over the melted chocolate layer.
