Ingredients

Marinade Ingredients
  • 1 pound Flank Steak Opt for high-quality meat for maximum flavor.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce Tamari is a great gluten-free alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Feel free to use vegetable oil if needed.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey Substitute with maple syrup if desired.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh cloves are ideal.
  • 1 tablespoon Grated Ginger Fresh ginger is best.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper White pepper can be a subtler choice.
  • 2 tablespoons Lime Juice Vinegar can work too, though it alters the flavor slightly.
Serving Suggestions
  • 2 cups Fluffy Jasmine Rice Complements the steak beautifully.
  • 2 ears Grilled Corn Adds a sweet crunch.
  • 1 cup Refreshing Asian Slaw Consider adding sesame seeds for extra texture.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • grill
  • Resealable Bag
  • cutting board

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, black pepper, and lime juice until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Take your flank steak and place it in a resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it's well coated. Seal the bag tightly and massage the marinade into the meat for a few minutes. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight.
  3. About 20 minutes before grilling, remove the flank steak from the refrigerator to bring it to room temperature. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, aiming for around 400°F.
  4. Once the grill is hot, place the marinated flank steak on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without flipping. When ready, flip the steak and continue grilling for another 4-5 minutes, until it reaches medium-rare doneness.
  5. After grilling, remove the flank steak from the grill and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes. Then, slice the steak against the grain.
  6. Serve the juicy flank steak immediately, paired with fluffy jasmine rice, grilled corn, or a refreshing Asian slaw.
