Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine sliced peaches with ½ cup of granulated sugar and brown sugar; let macerate for 5 minutes.
  3. Melt the butter in the baking dish for about 5–7 minutes.
  4. Whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining ½ cup of sugar; add milk and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour batter into the center of the melted butter, then spoon the peach mixture on top without stirring.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg over the peaches.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbly.
  8. Cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
