- Take your beef steak out of the refrigerator and allow it to reach room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides with salt and freshly ground pepper.
- Heat a skillet over high heat, adding 1-2 tablespoons of cooking oil or clarified butter. Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side until a golden-brown crust forms.
- Transfer the steak to a cutting board and loosely cover with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 5-10 minutes.
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add a splash more oil if needed. Toss in sliced onions and bell peppers, sauté for about 5-7 minutes.
- Slice the rested steak against the grain into thin strips. Plate the steak and top with the sautéed peppers and onions.
