Ingredients

Blueberry Mixture
  • 2 cups frozen blueberries Fresh blueberries can be used if in season for a pop of flavor and freshness.
  • 4 cups filtered water Opt for filtered water to enhance the overall taste.
  • 1 cup organic raw sugar Honey or a non-caloric sweetener can be used if you're looking to cut sugar.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Lime juice can be a fun alternative for a zesty twist.
Green Tea
  • 6 cups filtered water
  • 6 bags strong green tea You can replace green tea with black tea for a deeper flavor.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • heatproof pitcher
  • fine sieve
  • potato masher or immersion blender

Method

Blueberry Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine frozen blueberries, 4 cups of filtered water, organic raw sugar, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium heat, then simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Use a potato masher or an immersion blender to crush the blueberries, straining the mixture through a fine sieve into a bowl to reserve the juice.
Tea Preparation
  1. Bring 6 cups of filtered water to a temperature between 170-180°F. Steep 6 green tea bags for 3 minutes, then remove the bags and let the tea cool.
Combining Mixtures
  1. Once the brewed green tea has cooled, pour it into a large pitcher and add the reserved blueberry juice along with the remaining 2 tablespoons of lemon juice. Stir well.
  2. Chill for at least 30 minutes or serve immediately over ice. Garnish with lemon slices or fresh mint leaves.
