Ingredients

For the Peach Syrup
  • 1 cup sugar Provides sweetness; feel free to reduce for a less sugary peach tea.
  • 1 cup water Acts as the base for the peach syrup; always use fresh for the best flavor.
  • 2-3 pieces sliced fresh peaches Imparts natural peach flavor; fresh is ideal, but frozen can work.
For the Tea
  • 3 bags Tea Bags (Black Tea) Consider peach tea bags for an extra fruity kick.
  • 6 cups water Essential for brewing black tea; filtered water ensures a crisp taste.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • fine-mesh strainer
  • large pot

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare the Peach Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of water, and 2-3 sliced fresh peaches. Over medium heat, bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  2. Simmer the Mixture: Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and let it cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Strain the Syrup: Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the peach syrup into a bowl or measuring cup, discarding the solid peach pieces.
  4. Brew the Black Tea: In a large pot, bring 6 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil. Add 3 black tea bags and steep for about 5 minutes.
  5. Chill the Tea: Remove the tea bags and let the brewed tea cool down to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  6. Combine and Serve: To serve, fill tall glasses with ice, pour in the chilled tea, and slowly add the cooled peach syrup.
