Step-by-Step Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced chicken sausage and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil, diced onion, and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 30 seconds.
- Add uncooked orzo to the skillet, stirring continuously for 1-2 minutes until slightly golden. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cover the skillet and reduce heat to medium-low, cooking for about 8 minutes. Uncover, add broccoli and sausage back, stir well, and cover again for a few minutes.
- Uncover and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp. Stir in Parmesan cheese and lemon juice until the cheese melts. Season with salt and pepper.
- Turn off the heat, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes
Mise en place ensures a smooth cooking process. Take your time browning the sausage for deeper flavors, and add broccoli towards the end to avoid overcooking.
