Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cream butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, then add egg and mix well. Gradually incorporate flour until dough forms, adding cream or milk if needed.
  2. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to 1/6 inch thick. Slice into strips about 3/4 inch wide.
  3. Twist each dough strip around the handle of a wooden spoon to create the corkscrew shape. Place crullers on parchment paper.
  4. Heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry crullers in batches for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove crullers with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Dust with powdered sugar while warm.
