  • 200 grams Fish Cakes (Eomuk) Optional but recommended
  • 2 pieces Soft-Boiled Eggs Garnish
  • 2 stalks Scallions Chopped for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds Optional

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Tteokbokki
  1. If using non-fresh Korean rice cakes, soak them in warm water for about 15 minutes.
  2. While the rice cakes are soaking, cut the fish cakes into strips or triangles.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and minced garlic.
  4. In a large pan over medium heat, pour in your choice of stock and add the prepared sauce.
  5. Once the sauce is simmering, add the soaked rice cakes and prepared fish cakes.
  6. Reduce heat to low and let Tteokbokki simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
  7. In the last few minutes of cooking, gently add soft-boiled eggs and chopped scallions.
  8. Transfer your Tteokbokki to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and additional scallions.
